Specialties Spotlight – Library with Mrs. Hunt
We are so excited to start our new Provo Reads program in the library this year. The theme is Reading…Your Passport to Adventure!
Students will be able to participate in one of two fun reading challenges throughout the year. Starting next week, Kindergarten through Second-Grade students will receive a treasure map on which they can mark off a step on the path each time they read a book. For every 5 books they read they can bring their map into the library to receive a prize. If they complete the whole map they can turn it in for a free book!
Third through Sixth-grade students will receive an adventure bookmark on which they can fill out the title and author of three books they read. When they fill out their bookmark they can bring it into the library and exchange it for a reading passport. This passport will be used to log reading hours. For every 5 hours that they log, they can bring their passport back to the library and get a stamp and a prize. After they have logged 40 hours of reading they will receive their final prize and be entered into a drawing for free books. If students wish to continue logging hours after this, however, they can continue to bring their passports into the library every 5 hours read and get stamps and entries into an additional drawing for some fun posters we have to giveaway.
Provo Reads will run throughout the year so students have until the end of of the school year to track their reading and return it to the library for prizes. Students will only receive one map or passport so please help them to keep track of it!
We look forward to seeing all of the fun books our students read this year as a part of Provo Reads!
