Students have had a blast being a part of the Beehive Book Award process this year!

The Beehive Book Award is a Utah book award designed to highlight the best books for Utah students. A committee of educators selects books they feel are of the highest caliber from five categories: picture, fiction, graphic novels, nonfiction, and poetry books. The nominated books are then voted on by students and the book most loved by students in each category is awarded the Beehive Book Award. Students have enjoyed going through all of the beehive book nominees this week and voting for their favorites. Once students decided on their favorite book(s) they wrote down the title on a paper bee and added it to the Beehive in the library. We amassed quite the collection of bees in our hive of favorites by the end of the week! Mrs. Hunt counted up the votes and will submit them to the Beehive Book committee and watch to see if our favorites win!

Our school favorites were:

Picture Book: I’m not Missing by Kashelle Gourley and Skylar Hogan

Fiction: A Duet for Home by Karina Glaser

Graphic Novel: The Tryout by Christina Soontornvat and Joanna Cacao

Nonfiction: I Am Smoke by Henry Herz and Merce Lopez

Poetry: Wait-And See by Helen Frost
