Sunset View Elementary School

The PTA is celebrating “Red Ribbon Week” at Sunset View Elementary during the week of October 26th-29th. Red Ribbon Week is the Nation’s largest and longest-running drug use prevention campaign. Follow this link to see a one minute video about how Red Ribbon Week started.

Due to COVID restrictions this year, and volunteers not being allowed in the school, we won’t be able to interact with the students at school during the week. So we have planned to send home things for the students to do with their family’s at home. On Monday students will come home with a “Pledge” that they can color and sign with their first name. Parents can take a picture of their students dressed like a “SuperHero” or just in regular clothes with their pledge and email it to the PTA at sunsetviewelementarypta@gmail.com to enter them into our prize drawing for Red Ribbon Week. If your student dresses up like a “SuperHero” for their picture with their pledge, we will share their picture with the National Red Ribbon Week campaign. The deadline for photo entries will be Thursday the 29th. Prizes will be drawn on Friday. On Monday we will also share some tips, and links with information on talking to children about drug, alcohol, and tobacco prevention. Our hope is that as a family you take the time during the week to talk about drug abuse with your students.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we are sending home notes with items to remind students to say no to drugs. Each day of the week there is an activity for the students as shown in the photo.

If your child is a home study student and would like to receive the flyers and items that are being sent home, please email the PTA at sunsetviewelementarypta@gmail.com. The PTA will leave those items for you in the front office for you to pick up.
