Sunset View Elementary School

Parents, today a form went home that will need to be used for your 6th-grade students to sign up for choir, orchestra, or music this year. Please watch for that form and send it back as soon as you can.

In 6th grade this year, your child has the opportunity to choose choir, band or orchestra for music during the school day. This week, the different music teachers will meet with your students to explain and demonstrate these options.

Students need to choose the class they feel they will work hardest in. All three of these classes will have high expectations for students. Students will also be expected to practice, take care of instruments, be involved and be responsible. Orchestra and band students will have instruments provided to them by the school.

Please be aware that the choir, band, and orchestra students will have 2 evening concerts during the year. These dates will be given to you in the coming weeks.

Students will need to rate all three classes and decide which they like best. Please make sure you rate all three, as you may not be able to get your first choice. During the first day of class, orchestra and band students will be able to decide which instrument they would like to play. Please keep in mind that this is a yearlong class. Once your student is placed in a class, they will remain there until May.

If your form has been lost, you can click on the link below to gain access to one that can be printed and turned into the school. If you have any questions, please call us ad (801) 374-4950.
