ProvoReads…Dan Santat!
We are excited to be studying the work of author/illustrator Dan Santat in the library over the next few months. As part of our annual ProvoReads program students across the district pick one topic to collectively focus on together across the district. This year we are thrilled to be focusing our attention on the books written and illustrated by Dan Santat. Students have been given different challenges using his books they can complete to earn prizes between now and December!
Kindergarten-Second grade students can complete a Dan Santat bingo card. For each bingo they complete reading Dan Santat books they can come into the library to pick up a prize. If they complete the whole card they can enter it into a drawing for books and posters that the library will be holding before winter break in December.
Third-Sixth grade students have been given a bookmark with two sides. On the first side they can choose 10 Dan Santat books of their choice to read and fill out on the empty books. Once they have done so they can bring their bookmark into the library for a prize. On the backside are different genres/areas of the library to checkout books from. Students need to choose one book from each category to read. When they have read half of the categories they can bring their bookmark in for a half way prize and once they complete the whole thing they can turn the bookmark in as an entry for the drawing we will do in December.
Hopefully students will enjoy and participate in these reading challenges. We are so excited to learn more about Dan Santat and his books as we explore our love of reading through this years ProvoReads program!
