Specialties Spotlight – Library
Students in library are learning about different ways to access books this during this school year! After reviewing the parts of a book and how to take care of library books, students have begun checking out books from our school library! This week they are practicing using our library catalog, Destiny Discover, to look up a book on the computer and find it on the shelf by themselves using the call number. They have also learned how to access the catalog from home any time to see what books are available to them in the library and to place books on hold that they would like ready for them during their next library visit!
Next week students will be reviewing how to log on to SORA, an online book database the district has provided all students with access to, so that they can check out books digitally as well as physically! Ebooks and Audiobooks are a great resource for students who don’t like to or have a hard time reading physical books. Our school is was #1 in the district for the number of digital book checkouts on SORA last year which is amazing! Our students love reading and we hope to continue to have such awesome book checkout numbers this year!
We are also excited to announce that all of our Battle of the Books books will be available on SORA as well as in the library this year. Students have started signing up for Battle of the Books teams and are eager to get started! We have a lot going on in our library this year and are already starting off the school year strong!
