In PE our skills practice recently shifted to overhand throwing as well as fun fall activities. One of the warm-up activities for Kindergarteners is “Builders and Bulldozers.” Cones are set up right side up and on their sides. Students are either “builders” (setting as many cones upright as possible) or “bulldozers” (putting as many cones on their side as possible). Students run from cone to cone for a set amount of time, we pause and count how many of each cone there are, then switch roles. Another warm-up activity for October was “Thriller” with everyone putting their own spin on the choreography. Many teachers joined in the fun to prepare the video for canvas.

During lunch recess, there was a life-size foosball tournament for grades 4-6 using pool noodles to help with social distancing. We are just beginning a running club on Tuesdays for grades 3-6 during lunch recess. The focus is on helping students complete as many turkeys (laps) as they would like in the amount of time available after lunch. Four turkeys are equal to one mile.

When students are at home, activities are posted that can be accessed through the “PE 20-21 Tessem” course on Canvas. These are designed to do with your family, and help students work on the skills we have been focusing on in class.
