Welcome to our sixth installment of Meet-the-Teacher Monday! Each Monday, we will be spotlighting one of our teachers and sharing a little bit about them with you. Our teacher this week is Mrs. Parker.
This week we are introducing someone brand new to our school! Mrs. Parker is our new facilitator at Sunset View. Mrs. Parker began her teaching career in 1990. Mrs. Parker studied Elementary Education at BYU. She earned her Masters in Education from Utah State University and her Administrative License from Southern Utah University. Prior to being our facilitator, Mrs. Parker taught second grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, kindergarten, and has even worked as an after school instructor. Her favorite book is The Giver because the author creates a world with problems and characters that make her think about deep issues. Mrs. Parker’s favorite genre of movie is fantasy fiction. She loves all of the Avengers’ movies because they are a great mix of comedy and drama and action. Mrs. Parker also loves a serious drama with both character and plot development.
Mrs. Parker has been married to her husband Steve for 30 years. Together they have four adult daughters: Haley, Kendra, Hannah, Madison and her husband Dylan, and a teenage daughter Joy. She also has an orange tabby named Daisy and a hedgehog. In her free time, Mrs. Parker enjoys gardening, running, and biking. Her favorite place to vacation is California – or any place with a beach and water. Mrs. Parker’s favorite foods are hamburgers, pistachios, Cherry Pepsi, ice cream, and pickles.
Mrs. Parker would like parents to know that she is not afraid of hard things–she used to change sprinkler pipes in alfalfa fields as a kid; she grew up on a farm without indoor plumbing; she chopped wood and hauled coal in the winters, and knows how to fix a fantastic venison chimichanga.
We are so lucky to have Mrs. Parker at our school!
